A valley village in the Wicklow hills, twice named Ireland's Tidiest Small Town.
Aughrim won Ireland's Tidiest Small Town in 2006 and 2009, was named Ireland's Tidiest Town overall in 2007, and was part of Ireland's Entente Florale success the same year.
Aughrim is the nearest town to the Iron Bridge stage of the Wicklow Way, about 9km from the trail.
A 4km walk follows the water from the village into Tinnakilly Woods, under alder, oak, birch and sycamore.
There's a stocked angling lake at the village. Ask us when you book and we'll point you right.
Macreddin Golf Club is about four minutes away by car. Woodenbridge Golf Club is a short drive down the valley towards Avoca, and Arklow Golf Links is on the coast.
The Vale of Avoca, Avoca village and the Meeting of the Waters are a short drive from the inn.
The monastic site and lakes at Glendalough, and the sand at Brittas Bay, are both within an easy drive.
The Strawberry Tree at Macreddin Village, Ireland's first certified organic restaurant, is a few minutes' drive. There's an Italian restaurant nearby, and two takeaways in the village.
Aughrim is about an hour and a quarter south of Dublin.
Take the N11 south to Rathnew, then follow the signs for Rathdrum and on to Aughrim. The inn is on Main Street.
